Fundación Acción Joven, Costa Rica

The Fundación Acción Joven promotes the “Young Talent” project, an initiative that opens paths to educational and labor reintegration for young survivors of trafficking.

In Guanacaste and San José, 47 women—22 minors and 25 adults, including 11 mothers—participated in processes designed to accompany them in their personal and professional reconstruction.

Through individual care plans, life skills training, employability preparation, and referrals to educational and employment opportunities, participants found a safe space to grow and plan for their future.

The results speak for themselves:

  • 31 participants were referred to technical training programs.
  • 3 young people have already accessed job opportunities
  • 6 women in irregular migratory situations managed to enter the formal secondary education system.

Beyond the statistics, the real impact is in the voices of those who are transforming their lives:

“Thanks to Young Talent, I am studying again and already have an internship at a company. I feel supported.”—Beneficiary

For Fernando Hernández, Program Coordinator for the organization Rostro de Justicia, “Fundación Acción Joven was a very valuable ally for our organization. It managed to get a large number of our users enrolled in the education system, even though we faced a lot of resistance from several important actors.”

Young Talent shows that when local alliances come together with dignified, person-centered care, not only are individual stories transformed, but community capacities are also strengthened to respond effectively and respectfully to the needs of this population.
