Chispa Project, Honduras

On July 4, 2025, Chispa Project reached a historic milestone: the opening of its 100th library, an achievement that reflects nine years of committed work with Honduran communities and more than 80,000 donated children’s books.

For this special occasion, the team chose CEBG “Latinoamericana,” a school whose vision of providing safe and creative spaces for children is fully aligned with the project’s mission.

“We want children to have a dignified and safe space where they are free to imagine and create… that lays the foundation for the rest of their lives,” said its director, Henry Molina.

The inauguration was a true community celebration. Administrators, teachers, parents, students—and even alumni like Ana, who graduated in 2017—joined forces to paint, inventory books, and prepare every detail.

The big day was filled with costumes, dances such as “La Jelipita,” a lively book fair, and lots of excitement as everyone discovered the mural inspired by Las jirafas no pueden bailar (Giraffes Can’t Dance).

The children have already taken ownership of their new space: the fourth graders organized shifts to read Hombre Perro (Dog Man), while the older students immersed themselves in the Harry Potter collection.

This library is more than a place to read: it is a spark that will ignite the imagination and love of reading throughout the educational community of CEBG “Latinoamericana.”

Cheers to this incredible journey and to the many libraries yet to come!
