The Asociación de Comités Ecológicos del Sur de Honduras (ACESH) is driving a beautiful initiative: Local Community Markets—spaces that promote agroecological production, local exchange, and connection among neighbors.

Each month, farmers from different communities gather to offer their products—from fresh fruits and vegetables to traditional dishes with a local twist—in a vibrant environment that celebrates identity and collective work.

Among the most anticipated flavors are “sopa de gallina india con carrul de maíz and yuca con chicharrón“, dishes that revive beloved culinary traditions on the verge of disappearing.

Beyond commerce, these markets have become community gathering points—places where people share experiences, strengthen bonds, and celebrate their cultural roots. As ACESH proudly notes, the greatest achievement is witnessing the enthusiasm of the groups and the pride of each community in its local production and identity.
