Leadership, Inclusion, and Wellbeing Through Sports

Educate, Honduras

Educate drives the UniDeporte Program, an inspiring initiative that combines youth leadership, inclusion, and healthy habits to transform lives through sports.

The program encourages teamwork, gender equity, and active participation of children and young people in sports and outdoor activities that strengthen their physical, emotional, and social skills.

Thanks to the dedication of young leaders Elvin Pérez and Darnella Flores—both Educate scholarship recipients and now program coordinators—UniDeporte has become a powerful space for growth, inspiration, and community transformation.

This year alone, 49 young people participate in weekly training sessions, 354 community members have joined sports and outreach activities, and 240 students took part in the interschool tournament “Play for Peace”, where sports become a bridge for coexistence and positive change.

As Damaris, one of the youth leaders, shared:

“I’ve learned to overcome my fears, respect others’ opinions, and make new friends. This program has helped me tremendously.”

For Elvin, coordinating UniDeporte has been a life-changing experience:

“Sports are a powerful tool to shape people, instill values, and create leaders who transform their communities.

With every game, every training session, and every smile, UniDeporte proves that leadership and inclusion can also be learned on the field
