When Collaboration Sparks Change: The Reading Partnerships Program

December 15, 2025

Chispa Project, Honduras

What happens when two organizations team up on a reading initiative? More than 400 students in remote areas gain access—for the first time—to over 2,000 books; 20 teachers receive training in highly effective reading strategies; and 8 schools broaden their approach to learning, turning classrooms into spaces of curiosity and discovery.

These are the results of a two-year partnership between Chispa Project and Summit Honduras—and just one example of the many high-impact collaborations made possible through the Reading Partnerships Program (RPP).

RPP expands Chispa Project’s reach beyond school library programs by partnering with organizations in Honduras whose missions intersect with education, health, youth development, or community empowerment. Each partnership is designed around the unique needs of the community.

Partner organizations bring deep local roots and long-term support; Chispa provides the books, resources, and reading expertise. Together, they make reading programs possible in places where they once seemed out of reach. This year marked the first time RPP had a team member dedicated specifically to growing these partnerships—driving 270% growth in the program compared to last year.

In 2025, RPP built and sustained 14 partnerships with organizations such as United Way Honduras, educate., and Un Mundo, among others; trained 50 teachers; and distributed 4,259 books—representing more than 25% of Chispa Project’s total annual reach. These numbers show that collaboration multiplies impact exponentially.

Through RPP, Chispa Project equips other organizations to become champions of reading—ensuring the spark of literacy keeps spreading long after the first book is opened.
