TeenSmart Internacional – Costa Rica

Having internet access opens doors. Knowing how to use technology safely and purposefully is what transforms lives. With that conviction, TeenSmart Internacional, with the support of Fundación CODESPA and the European Union, drives the “Reducción de la Brecha Digital de Colectivos Vulnerables” project in Nicaragua, operating in the departments of Managua, Masaya, León, Estelí, and Chinandega.

Through jovensalud.net, participants access two virtual courses: CRECER Para SER — focused on life skills and reduction of risk behaviors — and SmartClick — oriented toward digital health, safety, and the responsible use of technology.

As of September 15, 2026, 3,851 young people had enrolled, surpassing the initial goal of 2,000 by 192%. Of those, 1,246 had already completed at least one course, representing 62.3% progress toward the goal of 2,000 graduates.

Virtual learning is complemented by in-person presence: between July 2025 and September 2026, the project carried out 68 in-person activities, including enrollment campaigns, playful awareness sessions, and follow-up visits, as well as training for teachers, tutors, and families.

To celebrate the effort of those who had already completed their training, the first recognition events were held where graduates received diplomas certifying their personal and professional growth.

With the project running through July 2027, TeenSmart and its partners continue working so that digital inclusion translates into real opportunities.
