COFAMIPRO – Honduras
For 27 years, COFAMIPRO has used radio as a tool for accompaniment, information, and awareness-raising for families of disappeared migrants, primarily through Radio Progreso in Honduras. In 2026, that voice crossed borders.

With the launch of “Abriendo Fronteras” (Opening Borders), a program produced by COFAMIPRO and broadcast in Mexico through Radio Huayacocotla, 105.5 FM, the organization takes a historic step: directly accompanying and informing migrants who are passing through Mexican territory on their way to the United States.
The program provides information on human rights, risk prevention, and high-danger zones along the migration route, as part of a strategy for protection and prevention of disappearances.
As part of the launch, a technical team from COFAMIPRO traveled to Mexico and held a public forum in Huayacocotla, Veracruz, where searching mothers shared their testimonies with the local community.
The gathering was deeply meaningful: residents who, for the first time, heard up close the stories of those searching for their disappeared children in Mexico and Honduras.
After 27 years of presence on Honduran airwaves, COFAMIPRO extends its voice beyond borders, using communication as a tool to inform, prevent, accompany, and defend the rights of migrants and their families.
