Cultivating Opportunities for Rural Youth

CRIPDES, El Salvador

Across rural communities in El Salvador, a new generation of young people is rising—grounded in big dreams and driven by an inspiring energy. Despite the barriers to accessing higher education, youth continue to show that when opportunities open up, determination finds a way forward.

The scholarship program “Cultivating Opportunities for Rural Youth” currently supports 18 young people who are pursuing technical and university studies with enthusiasm—becoming examples of perseverance and hope. One story that especially inspires us is Loydi Hernández, a law student, young mother, and community leader.

As Loydi shares: “Being a young mother hasn’t been easy, but studying law is my way of opening doors—for myself, for my daughters, and for my community.”

With grit and heart, she continues her education thanks to the support of the scholarship program. Together with CRIPDES La Libertad, we celebrate every achievement of rural youth and remain committed to creating opportunities for them to learn, grow, and dream in safe and positive spaces. When young people shine, the whole community moves forward.
