Comunicándonos, El Salvador
Fundación Comunicándonos, in alliance with Fundación Tacuzcalco and the Leadership School of Sonsonate, promotes key training processes in western El Salvador, aimed at youth and leaders of indigenous peoples.

On the one hand, workshops on digital security and critical use of social networks were held for young people from Sonsonate. 20 participants, between 16 and 18 years old, learned about the strategic use of digital platforms with a community approach, protection of personal data, creation of secure passwords and encrypted messaging tools.
According to Diego Hernández, facilitator of the workshops, the aim was to strengthen both their technical skills and their critical awareness of the current digital environment.

At the same time, community and indigenous leaders participated in dialogue sessions on civic space and climate justice, also promoted by the regional Aporto project.
Nahua-Pipil representatives from Sonsonate and Ahuachapán -among them MESUTSO, CACTI, Pasos del Jaguar and Witzapan- exchanged knowledge, reflected on the impact of megaprojects without prior consultation, the criminalization of territorial defense and the threat of monocultures and mining in their communities.
Access to and defense of water emerged as a central theme of their struggles.
From their worldviews, these communities defined the concepts of civic space and climate justice, reaffirming the importance of the right to free expression, participation and organization. They also expressed the desire to continue strengthening their legal and organizational capacities to collectively face current challenges.
These actions reflect a joint effort to empower youth and communities in the defense of their rights, territories and common future, from a perspective of digital, organizational and environmental resistance
