The Educating for Conservation (EFC) program seeks to strengthen environmental education in the department of Sololá under a powerful premise: “If you teach me, I learn; if I learn, I know; if I know, I value; and if I value, I conserve.”

Currently, EFC reaches 13 municipalities and 47 educational centers at the primary, basic, and diversified levels, benefiting 3,243 students and 116 teachers committed to caring for their environment.

The methodology combines formal learning with playful-pedagogical techniques and field activities, which turn theory into concrete action.

An example of this is the planting of 10,000 trees during this school year, contributing to the conservation and restoration of the water recharge areas of the Lake Atitlán basin.

For Amigos del Lago, conservation means not only protecting and safeguarding, but also creating harmony between communities and their environment, building a more sustainable future together.
