BAYAN, Honduras
From its early days, the Tutorial Learning System (TLS) identified a fundamental need: for tutors to have constant human and technical support to strengthen their work at all levels. This led to the creation of the Field Coordination Team (FCT), which works side by side with tutors to enhance their skills and ensure the best teaching-learning process for each student.
In 2025, multi-level support is a reality: three regional coordinators support ten departmental coordinators, who in turn support 33 field advisors. These advisors work directly with more than 440 tutors, who are responsible for training 6,500 students in 150 educational centers located in hard-to-reach rural communities in 10 departments of the country.

For the advisors, support goes beyond academics. “It’s not enough to be with the tutor and students in the same place. You have to care about what’s happening in the communities, provide emotional and pedagogical support, listen, guide, and share strategies,” says Olbin Misael Sánchez, Field Advisor.
In the words of advisor Manuel Cantarero, this process also transforms those who provide support: “Support is comprehensive. It’s not just the tutor who learns; we also develop our skills to become better professionals and carry out our educational and technical work more efficiently.”
Thanks to the BAYAN Association, which is responsible for training and supporting the FCT, the TLS continues to consolidate itself as an educational model that puts people at the center and seeks continuous improvement in each community.
