TeenSmart Internacional – Costa Rica
A teenager often has questions they don’t know how to ask anyone — not their parents, not their friends, not a doctor. Questions about their body, their mental health, their relationships, their emotions. And often, what they need is not a generic internet answer, but reliable, relevant, and respectful guidance rooted in their reality.

TeenSmart Internacional has spent more than two decades working in adolescent health and well-being, and this year took a step that integrates the best of that experience with the possibilities of technology: the launch of Joy 2.0, the new version of its generative AI chatbot on the free platform JovenSalud.net.
Joy is not your average AI assistant. It was designed specifically to support adolescents and young people within a safe, confidential, and professionally backed digital health and well-being ecosystem. It is trained on the CRECER coaching model and its responses draw from thousands of real consultations answered by adolescent health specialists over the years. It doesn’t improvise: it guides with real knowledge.
Since its launch in January 2026, Joy 2.0 has handled 2,450 consultations from more than 700 Central American adolescents and young people, with an average of 3.21 consultations per user — indicating that those who use it come back because they find something useful. TeenSmart’s vision is clear: technology doesn’t replace human accompaniment. It complements it, expands it, and brings it closer to those who need it most.
