Asociación CasaSito, Guatemala
At CasaSito, they firmly believe that conscious young people have the power to transform their environment. That is why Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is an essential part of their development programs, fostering empathy, preventing violence, and offering tools for peaceful conflict resolution.
This year, 89 CasaSito scholarship recipients in Alta Verapaz and Sacatepéquez led an NVC campaign in 23 schools, reaching 1,450 children and young people. In Alta Verapaz, efforts focused on preventing bullying, given the high incidence of school bullying in the region. In Sacatepéquez, creativity flourished in the creation of an informative mural about NVC, while in Alta Verapaz, an anti-bullying video was produced as part of the campaign.

This process was more than just an activity: it was a space for youth leadership, in which the scholarship recipients, accompanied by CasaSito’s operational staff, teachers, and principals, developed materials such as posters, presentations, and activities to raise awareness among the entire educational community.
As María, a scholarship recipient from Sacatepéquez, said: “My experience in organizing, executing, and evaluating the campaign was a great opportunity to learn and grow.”
For Ixchel, also a scholarship recipient, the experience was equally valuable: “I really enjoyed this activity because by sharing information, people have the tools they need to resolve conflicts and thus be able to live together in a peaceful environment.”
At CasaSito, these young people not only learn, but also inspire change, demonstrating that peace is built through concrete actions and collective commitment.
