Chispa Project – Honduras
In just eight months, Chispa Project’s new library a Esteban Guardiola School completely transformed the school’s reading culture. What were once limited opportunities have become an average of 48 minutes of weekly reading per student, totaling more than 11,490 minutes dedicated to reading for pleasure.

The transformation began in April 2025 with the inauguration of the library, which introduced more than 600 new books into a community of 300 students, 13 teachers, administrative staff, and engaged families.
Since then, the Chispa team has worked closely with the school, strengthening teachers’ capacities, monitoring reading habits, and evaluating the program’s impact.
The results are compelling: 100% of teachers report that students are becoming more fluent and independent readers, while 97% of parents perceive an overall improvement in the quality of education. In addition, students surpassed the goal of 45 minutes of weekly reading and maintained a 95% library attendance rate.
The year 2025 also marked a milestone for Chispa Project, as it implemented for the first time a systematic tracking process of reading habits among the 9,000 students participating in its program. This commitment to measurement reinforces with clear data what communities are already experiencing: access to books transforms learning.
Looking ahead to the new academic year, Chispa will continue strengthening its monitoring and evaluation processes, combining powerful stories with concrete evidence to deepen the impact of its libraries in partner communities.
