New Sun Road, Guatemala
With the goal of expanding access to science and technology in Guatemala, New Sun Road and Guatemala’s National Secretariat for Science and Technology (SENACYT) signed an agreement that marks a historic step forward for science education in the country. Through this partnership, the first digital-format Science Clubs are being launched to reach rural communities that have historically been left out of these opportunities.
The clubs featured three outstanding scientists: Susana Arrechea (PhD in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology), Rocío Silva (Biologist), and Iris Baten (Chemical Engineer).

Children in rural areas were able to connect with them, ask questions, play, explore scientific concepts, and discover a world of possibilities—right from their own communities.
Thanks to the infrastructure of New Sun Road’s Digital Community Centers, this initiative enables students and teachers to access high-quality science content regardless of where they live. In doing so, it helps close the digital divide and supports a more inclusive, decentralized scientific culture aligned with the country’s needs.
This joint effort shows that when technology and education come together, science can reach any corner—and transform futures.
