ACESH – Honduras
In the dry corridor of Concepción de María, local farmers are taking a decisive step toward more sustainable agriculture with the support of the Asociación de Comités Ecológicos del Sur de Honduras (ACESH).

ACESH is currently supporting 18 farmers in installing irrigation systems — one group project and two individual systems — strengthening diversified plots under the Successional Agroforestry Systems (SAS) methodology. This approach combines short-, medium-, and long-term crops along with medicinal and aromatic species, promoting resilience and food security.
Erson Josué Castillo, one of the participating farmers, shares his satisfaction in seeing his crops thrive. In previous years, many plants withered due to lack of moisture; today, with an irrigation system installed on his three-quarter-hectare plot, he cultivates around 40 different species, diversifying his production and improving his family’s nutrition.
Despite adverse climate conditions, these irrigation systems are transforming productivity and strengthening the resilience of farming families, demonstrating that even in dry regions, it is possible to cultivate a sustainable future.
