Planting Seeds International – Guatemala
During recent training workshops held in Tecán, our partner Planting Seeds International worked with a total of 103 preschool teachers across two groups. The sessions focused on four reading comprehension strategies for early childhood and on the Doman method for teaching literacy.
The response from participants was overwhelmingly positive: teachers showed high enthusiasm and eagerness to apply what they had learned in their classrooms. Many shared that they hadn’t had access to professional development opportunities in a long time, and expressed a strong desire to keep participating in future sessions.
The interest generated has strengthened the relationship with the local education sector. There is a strong openness among Tecán’s school authorities and teachers toward Planting Seeds’ methodology.
As a result, the municipal education supervisor and other key stakeholders have scheduled a visit to see the model program in action. Additional training sessions with more schools in the area are also planned for June.
