Leadership Strengthened Through Community

April 22, 2026

New Sun Road – Guatemala

At the beginning of 2026, New Sun Road Guatemala brought together more than 150 community leaders in 4 bootcamps held in Quiché and Huehuetenango, creating spaces for learning, sharing experiences, and strengthening local leadership.

Throughout these gatherings, participants engaged in community dialogue, collaborative work, and practical learning on topics such as leadership, technology, equity, community development, and technical skills for maintaining solar systems in their communities.

The activities created opportunities to share knowledge rooted in the realities of each territory, strengthening networks, capacities, and a collective vision for driving change from the local level.

These gatherings reflect the commitment of communities to sustainable transformation processes, as well as the essential role of women and community leadership in that journey.

In addition, through partnerships with the Secretariat Against Sexual Violence, Exploitation, and Trafficking in Persons of the Government of Guatemala and the NGO Tierra Nueva, key content and participatory workshops were provided on violence prevention and community strengthening.

This process will continue in April in Alta Verapaz, where 2 more bootcamps will be held to further promote the exchange of experiences and the strengthening of leadership across the region.
